   Proposal Description:
   Progression of from time of diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disorder to death has significant variability. Rapid progression of clinical symptoms of Alzheimer???s disease (AD) from under 2years to slow progression over 10 years has been described. Even as rates of progression are thought to vary between the dementia subtypes, (AD, Fronto temporal dementia (FTD), Lewy Body dementia (LBD), Vascular dementia (VD), Hippocampal sclerosis dementia(HSD), Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease(CJD) and Mixed dementia ),  the degree of variability in cognitive decline within each of the subtypes of dementia has not been clearly defined. It is also not known if there are common factors at initial patient visit in each of the dementia subtypes that relate to faster or slower decline. We propose to evaluate variability in rates of cognitive and functional decline in each of the dementia subtypes and examine which clinical and neuropsychological factors relate to faster and slower clinical trajectories of dementia progression.
